A KIND DEED

From: Sofia, Pri 5, Methodist Girls’

There was once, when I was in a public bus, I saw an elderly lady come into the bus. The bus was full, so there were no seats. I decided to give my seat to the old lady, since I knew how it felt to be standing for a long time, and I did not know when she was going to get off the bus, so she may be tired. When she was closer to me, I tapped her on her shoulder and asked her whether she wanted to sit down, as I stood up. At first, I was not too sure. She looked hesitant, like she was going to say no. But instead, she smiled a kind and gentle smile at me, thanked me, and sat down.

After that, even though I was standing for a long time, I felt very happy as I did a good deed, and as I exited the bus, I caught a glance of her, looking at me and smiling. I smiled back. That was a good deed that I will never forget, as I know that that lady was sincerely thankful. I was not asking for a “thank you”, as I know that that is what we are supposed to do, to help. But when she thanked me, I felt very happy. I will never forget her gentle smile.
