The magical Jade Rabbit wanted to test Mei and Yun’s deep love for their Grandpa. So, he set a challenge for them to fulfil before saving their Grandpa.
“Mei and Yun, before I use my magic. You must show me Kindness and Patience.”
Exhilarated, Mei and Yun agreed without any hesitation. The magical Jade Rabbit went “poof” and left without a trace. Charged with enthusiasm, the twins immediately ran to town to search for an opportunity to display their act. As the sun set, both Mei and Yun felt weary and dejected. They both started to sob incessantly.
Suddenly, they heard a loud clang and saw an old lady topple her baskets of red and green beans. Mei and Yun promptly lifted the baskets and sorted the beans neatly in the respective baskets. The old lady thanked them profusely.
The twins felt a flash and to their surprise, the magical Jade Rabbit appeared. “Well done Mei and Yun. You have proven yourselves.”
The magical Jade Rabbit wiggled its furry tail and took them back to the moment when Grandpa was about to add the secret ingredient to his mooncakes.
“STOP!” the twins yelled. Grandpa stood in stunned wonder. The twins assured Grandpa that his mooncakes taste perfect the way it is.
“Mei and Yun, I think you are right. I shall make it the way it is.”
Everyone, including the Emperor and his favourite son, enjoyed the mooncakes so much that the Emperor bestowed Grandpa with “Best Baker” title.
