During the paper aeroplane flying competition selection, I was teamed up with two of my boy classmates. Their first reaction was, “Do we really need a girl in our team?” That made me nervous because I thought flying paper planes was more of a boy’s strength. They already had ideas about how to fold the plane and make it fly high. For me, I was better at doing projects and presentations, not at building planes. I also remembered my first try back in Primary 2, when my plane dropped after just one minute. That memory made me worried I would not be able to help this time.
But as we worked together, I realised something important. Even though our skills were different, we could still support each other. The boys focused on the design and flying, while I helped to organise our ideas and explain them clearly. In the end, I learned that teamwork is not about everyone being the same. It is about combining our strengths. Differences may seem scary at first, but they can make the team stronger.
