Dear Swara,
I’m so sorry your grandmother passed away. I understand how you feel as I have gone through a similar experience, and I want you to know that it’s alright to feel grief and sadness.
A few years back, my grandfather died in an accident. It was sudden and my whole family was left in shock. My heart shattered when I heard the tragic news and it felt like there was a gaping hole in my heart for the following few weeks.
Right when I was at the peak of my grief, my father encouraged me to try remembering the good memories with my grandfather instead of trying to forget about his death, like going rock climbing which I used to love doing with him. He also told me to let his passing be a life lesson on dealing with other relationships and cherishing time with loved ones.
From then onwards, I started getting over the grief of my grandfather’s passing and reliving the happy moments with him. I also cherished every moment with my loved ones more as I realised how precious time can be. Slowly, I returned to my normal, cheerful self.
I hope sharing my experience with you can help you better deal with your own situation. Remember that it’s alright and normal to feel sad, angry, or confused at first but you can get through and grow from this experience.
With love,
Conor
