Grandmother stories

From: Rachelle, Pri 5, Methodist Girls School (Primary)

My grandparents live with my family. I am particularly close to my grandmother. My grandmother often tells me stories about herself when she was young. Through her, I know how Singapore was like in the 1950s. I am particularly fascinated when she shares that an ice-ball only cost half a cent when she was a little child, and because the smallest currency is one cent, she had to buy two ice-balls at one time!

My grandmother and I are very similar. We love music a lot and can play the piano well. We also enjoy food and often go out for meals together. Our similarities even extend to our physical appearance. We both have round faces and wavy hair.

However, we have some differences. For example, I enjoy swimming and doing outdoor activities, while she prefers to read a book with a cup of tea in her hand. I like dogs and cats while she runs away at the mere sight of them. Still, these differences do not stop us from loving each other.

I love my grandmother a lot!
