When I grow up, I want to be tall enough to reach the top shelf without standing on a chair. I look forward to trying new things, like making my own meal, travelling on airplanes to countries by myself, and maybe even having a pet that can actually listen to me. Growing up feels exciting, like unlocking new levels in a game.
But I don’t want to forget the fun of being a kid. I want to remember how it feels to run in the rain, laugh with my friends during recess, and play silly games with my siblings. I hope I will always keep the joy of blowing bubbles, drawing cartoons, and celebrating birthdays with custom cakes and candles. Growing up means that you get to do what you want, but you won’t be able to be as carefree as before.
To me, growing up means learning more and doing more, but also keeping the happy memories from childhood safe inside my heart. I want to be brave and responsible, but still playful and curious — just like now.
