If I were Ben, I would choose to take over as the school mascot for the basketball game.
It is a hard decision because I do not want to wear the mascot costume. The idea makes me cringe. I wonder why they chose a mascot like this — not to mention that it looks weird and uncool. I can imagine how looking so uncool will make me lose all my new friends that I have tried so hard to make.
But the fact is, if I were suspended, my parents would be so upset. They would give me a huge tongue lashing and I am sure they will pile me with work to make up for what I missed during suspension. Being suspended would also mean that I cannot meet my friends every day and that would be equally upsetting.
At the end of the day, I believe a person needs to be responsible for his own actions. The fact is, I threw the hot dog. That was an irresponsible action. It caused the boy in the Spud costume to sprain his ankle and miss the game. The mascot is an important part of the school cheerleading squad.
Therefore, even though it is uncool, and may cause me to lose my friends, I will still choose to wear the mascot costume. I think that true friends will see the responsible me owning up to my actions. I should not bother with “friends” who just want to see the cool me.
