Dear Jillian,
You may be feeling anxious about the Mind Benders quiz competition, but in my eyes, you are already a winner. I admire your courage for participating in this event, especially when many of our friends hesitated to do so.
I would like to share a story with you. Not long ago, I was timid and quiet. Surprisingly, I was chosen for a debating competition. I was so anxious before the competition that I vomited. My teacher encouraged me to calm down and handed me an album. Inside were pictures of my compositions over the years that received good commendations. After looking at the pictures, my confidence was greatly boosted. This spurred me on, and I helped my team clinch the debating championship that day.
Here is what I learnt from that event. I hope these tips will help you too.
Take a deep breath before the competition. Revise your notes and practice similar math quizzes. Remember to trust and believe in yourself. Dispel any negative thoughts by thinking of positive events that make you happy.
On the day, be brave and say your answer out loud. Even if it is wrong, nobody will think you are a fool as we all make mistakes. Have a growth mindset and learn from your mistakes. It is also good practice to challenge yourself.
Participating in the competition is part of your journey to overcome challenges and obstacles. Be confident, I believe in you!
No matter what happens, enjoy the preparation and competition!
Sincerely,
Tiffany
