Ruby feels lost, and as a classmate I empathise with her. I will invite her to sit with me during recess and make her feel comfortable. Sometimes, people just need someone to listen to them without judgement.
I will try to be her friend. We can talk about her interests. Also, she can be a long-distance friend with Mia and stay in touch through letters, post cards, and social media. Ruby’s sister Vivian is starting a new phase in her education, which is a positive thing. I would congratulate Ruby to make her proud of her sister. To cheer her up, we can do fun activities and I can buy her a dessert of her choice. As for losing her Grandpa, I will point out that she has lovely memories to cherish. We can maybe see some photos of them together and share some fond memories.
To help Ruby get back on track with her studies, I will offer to be her study buddy and advise her to be punctual, not skip classes, do regular revisions, play study-related quizzes, etc.
