Having an interest in something other than what the majority likes mostly comes with consequences; Ginny’s was to be alone in the crowd. If I were Ginny, I would try to befriend people in my neighbourhood and find out their interests, too! I would love to connect with people and learn about their interests. Who knows? Maybe I can find someone who is interested in Geography like me and is interested in Mount Vesuvius.
To deal with my homesickness, I would try to analyse what my father meant by finding my true north and would work on that. I would not try to be isolated but would try to interact with people around me to understand the true balance between interests and requirements. But besides everything, my love for Geography would remain silently in my heart unless there’s someone I feel comfortable talking about Geography with.
