When Antain goes off into the forest, he stumbles upon the witch and finds out that the witch is not who most of the people thought she was. She is not a villainous, merciless, and horrible woman, but instead a woman who had lived in the village in her younger days.
Due to her ugly face, many disliked her. Thus, she left the village for a long time to stay in the woods. However, no one seems to recognise her now, so they think she is an evil witch who takes babies.
She actually takes care of the babies who had been unwittingly given up to her. In the end, Antain tells the village leader about the “witch” and the villagers feel sorry for the woman. They allow her to stay in the village. The babies are returned to their parents and the villagers need not worry about sacrificing a baby to the witch from then on.
