Grace stared at the witch, her heart pounding. “All my magic?” she repeated. The thought of losing it terrified her, but she felt a flicker of defiance. Her journey, her struggles, her magic — it was all hers. “I’ll make you a deal,” Grace said, steadying her voice. “Test me. If I succeed, I keep my magic and find my true home. If I fail, you can have it.”
The witch’s sly smile softened. “Very well,” she said. Grace faced tests that challenged her courage, kindness, and cleverness. Though she stumbled, she grew stronger each time. For the final test, the witch effortlessly turned a pin into a kitten. “Your turn!” she declared. Exhausted, Grace faltered.
Grace began humming a melody from Mrs Spencer’s class as the witch prepared to claim victory. Mist filled the air, transforming her tattered dress into a stunning pink ballgown. Inspired, she turned her pin into a golden-furred kitten, Butter. Touched by the melody and Grace’s determination, the witch realised true happiness lies in sharing, not superiority. Together, they used their magic to help others and built a sanctuary of kindness and love.
