If I were the author

From: Jasmine, Pri 6, Sengkang Primary School

Over time, Whistling Ridge has lost most of its magic. Ivy starts to regret her decision of making a wish out of anger and impulse. Even though her wish of having a “forever home” does start to come true, it is not in a way that she had expected. Determined to resolve the problems she started, Ivy takes another jar containing the magical fireflies from Mama’s shelf and wishes for everything to go back to normal. As if by magic, the apple trees start to produce big, red apples, and the little creek is filled with clear, running water the very next day. It is as though nothing had ever happened. Everything is the same as before. Heaving a sigh of relief, Ivy joins her parents, who are looking at Whistling Ridge magically coming back to life. As things go back to normal, Ivy learns to empathise with and understand Mama, whose work needs them to be on the move at all times. She also learnt to always think of the consequences of her actions before acting rashly.
