Letter to the Mayor

From: Tara, Pri 6, Clementi Primary School

Dear Mayor,

I am writing this letter to propose that the policy to move out families from Huey House within the next three months, regardless of whether they are ready or not, be abolished.

I moved into Huey House two months ago, and at first, it was hard to settle in. However, the community came together and supported me and my family. Soon, I got used to the ways of the shelter.

From my experience here, I know Huey House is a place where families fix up the problems in the household and start a better life afterwards. A place where they heal so they can start anew. A place where there is hope.

However, we were told of a new policy. All families will be moved out after three months, whether or not they are ready to live on their own. Most families are not ready yet and need more time to heal from their past traumas and find a new job. I hope you will be able to cancel this new policy.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

Yours faithfully,
June Yang
