To Mayor,
I am June from the Huey House. I have been staying here for the past two months. My father has just passed away and my mother has lost her job. Until now, I still feel inconsolable, but I am managing it slowly. Thanks to Huey House which have been taking care of my mother and me.
Unfortunately, there is a new policy for Huey House residents, which is that we have to leave after three months of stay, whether we are ready or not. This news tore through my heart like a knife. After we heard this devasting news, we felt as if the world around us had collapsed.
“Where are we going to stay next? Who is going to help us? How are we going to survive?” So many questions flooded my mind.
We are not ready to move out from Huey House. My mother hasn’t fully recovered to take care of my family. Neither is she able to provide for my family. Tyrell’s mother has not found a job yet either. We will all need more than three months to settle down and be independent. Three months is too short for us. We will lose a shelter if we are kicked out of Huey House.
We really need your help to not let that happen. Please reply as soon as possible as we seek your understanding. Please also empathise with our situation as we do not want to be homeless.
Thank you.
Regards,
June
