Alyce listened as the Mad Hatter described the war over the stolen hour. She thought of home — her father away at sea, her prized possessions packed away, and her grandmother turning the living room into rows of beds for wounded soldiers.
“This is the cost of war,” Alyce reflected. “It takes and takes. I must do something.” She stepped deliberately between the Sun King and the Queen of the Moon. “The hour was never stolen,” she declared. “It was meant to be shared.”
The rulers exchanged startled glances. “Let’s recreate it,” Alyce urged. “Together. A Shared Hour. Not yours, or yours, but everyone’s.”
She led them to fractured corners of Wonderland — tilted clocks, dim skies, restless winds. “Repair what is broken side by side,” she instructed. “If you can do this, you can safeguard peace.”
Everyone laboured together. The sky steadied, time regained rhythm, and the conflict dissipated. When Alyce returned home, the war had ended. Her father came back, the beds were cleared, and the house glowed once more. Peace, like Wonderland, was built through love.
