If I were Gracie in Roatán, I would help by visiting the Marine Park Centre and learning how coral nurseries work. Even though I can’t scuba dive yet, I would watch the volunteers clean the coral and learn from them. I would talk to my new friends like Alina and listen carefully to what the park workers say about protecting reefs. I’d take lots of pictures and share what I see with my family and classmates back home to raise awareness. I could also help pick up trash on the beach to stop pollution from reaching the ocean. I’d try to be careful with sunscreen and use reef-safe products. Most importantly, I’d keep practicing snorkelling so that when I’m old enough to scuba dive, I can volunteer to help the coral grow back. I know it will take time, but even small things I do now can help protect the reef I love.
