Weighing the pros and cons

From: Tiffany, Pri 4, Methodist Girls’ School

The pros of going to Svalbard is that April can find out whether the polar bear is Bear and help him. If it is not Bear, she could save another polar bear, and maybe reunite with Bear. However, if she is too late and Bear dies, she will be depressed. She would feel that the trip was a waste. Also, Bear is also wounded and probably restless. As he is in so much pain, he could forget that he used to be friends with April and Tor and think that they want to harm him. April and Tor could get severely injured.

I think April should call the scientists of the Polar Institute to investigate and help the polar bear, instead of her making this dangerous journey on her own.

What April could do instead is that April could contact the Animal Protection Society at Svalbard, or she could contact the news publisher who published the article (she may find the contact information from the news website) to investigate if the bear shot was Bear, and if it was, she could contact the animal society to help her nurse Bear back to health. Alternatively, April could ask for help from Tor to look for the relevant supporting organisations to investigate if it was Bear.
