If I was May’s friend, I would advise her to not put so much pressure on herself. She should take a break from chess, even if some people tell her not to. Chess is May’s hobby and not something she should get pressured on. I would tell her to not care too much about others’ expectations. A good player has to win and lose graciously. May need not win every game that she plays, just enjoy the process. I would tell May to not let peer pressure stop her from loving her hobby, that she does not need to live up to people’s expectations all the time, especially those who are hurting her, like Ralph. A quote from Jeff Moore said, “Be true to who you are and proud of who you’re becoming. I never met a critic who was doing better than me.” So, she need not be stressed and pressured. Just enjoy her hobby.
